We are taking part in the Big Give Green Match Fund. We have been awarded £5000 of funding which we will need to match with online donations to raise a total of £10,000 in just one week!

We will use the money raised through the Green Match Fund to:

  • Train small-scale, forest-edge farmers in orangutan-friendly farming methods which ensure the forest is protected and valued, not exploited. Regenerative agriculture and agro-forestry support biodiversity and also provide food and non-timber forest products to be sold to generate income for families
  • Engage women in forest-edge villages to set up tree nursery enterprises, using organic and permaculture techniques to raise appropriate tree seedlings to rewild degraded areas of rainforest. The tree nurseries help women to learn transferable skills and earn an income from selling seedlings.
  • Together with our frontline partners, we analyse a wide range of data (geographic, ecological, socio-economic) so we can pinpoint conservation priorities, effectively direct our resources, and identify the most effective interventions at community level.
  • Plant and nurture thousands of tree seedlings to enhance the Tapanuli forests. With careful species selection, in just 4 years, fast growing marak and sungkai trees can provide canopy so orangutans can nest. Fruit trees attract birds and insects & the forest can buzz with life again.
