Give the Gift of Life, for generations to come
When you choose to leave a gift in your will to SOS you will help to ensure that wild Sumatran and Tapanuli orangutans can thrive in resilient forests.
With your help, we can continue to protect, rewild and connect the irreplaceable rainforests in Sumatra, amongst the most bio-diverse landscapes on our planet.
A gift in your will can help us to plan ahead and ensure we can make the most impact for the future of rare and precious orangutans and their rainforest homes, for generations to come.
Your Lasting Gift
Leaving a gift in your will ensures a lasting impact. Conservation is a long-term and complex process, and your legacy will live on in the rainforest, by protecting remaining standing forest and rewilding and connecting landscapes which need help to flourish.
Your gift can help to plant vital trees for wildlife, providing food and shelter for countless wildlife species.
And trees that grow fruit, or provide other non-timber products, can help forest-edge communities to earn a living, without needing to cut down virgin forest for agriculture. Your gift can help to empower these communities to become champions of their forests – enriching, instead of exploiting, their landscapes for the long term.
Thank you for considering such a meaningful way to make an impact after you have gone.
Writing your will
There are three ways to leave a gift in your will to SOS. We recommend you visit a solicitor or use a trusted online will writing service like FareWill or Bequeathed.
Once you have taken care of your family and your loved ones, you can ask your solicitor or will writer to help you decide which type of gift you would like to leave to SOS.
You can choose to leave:
- A share of your estate (a residuary gift) – a percentage of the remainder of your estate after other legacies and costs have been paid. This type of gift is not affected by inflation.
- A specified sum (a pecuniary legacy) – for example £10,000. The value of this type of gift will be affected by inflation over time unless your gift is index-linked to the Retail Price Index.
- A specific item – like an antique or a piece of jewellery.Once you have decided on which type of gift you would like to leave to SOS, you will need to give your solicitor our charity number and address: Sumatran Orangutan Society, 6 Lombard Street, Abingdon, Oxon, OX14 5BJ. Charity no. 1158711.
